Nuns Mountain Bike To End Human Trafficking

Reuters Business Insider has a great story about hundreds of Buddist nuns who are mountain biking across the Himalayas to raise awareness of the region’s practice of human trafficking. “When we were doing relief work in Nepal after the earthquakes last year, we heard how girls from poor families were being sold because their parents could not afford to keep them anymore,” 22-year-old nun Jigme Konchok Lhamo told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. We wanted to do something to change this attitude that girls are less than boys and that it’s…

Zimmerman Brothers Hit $621,000 Vegas Jackpot

So how did the Zimmerman Brothers make out thinning their motorcycle collection at the recent Mecum Auction in Las Vegas? The brothers sold 83 motorcycles for a total take of $610,600. Still on the block are a few celebrity-owned bikes from the collection that did not meet their reserve price like a Steve McQueen owned ’68 Husqvarna 400 Motocross customized with lights and passenger pegs. The bikes that sold from the Zimmerman collection (actually, the majority of the bikes sold at the auction) appear to have generated reasonable market prices…

Yamaha XS650 With High-Performance Pipes

The phrase “running when parked” (RWP) is code for a once treasured possession that has been neglected in the corner of the garage or tool shed for far too long. Audi tech guys said it was not their problem.  I don’t believe Audi wants owners to hold…

Cycle World Revisited (Updated)

My subscription to Cycle World ran out a year ago with their May 2016 issue that sported the worst cover I have ever seen on a motorcycle magazine.  Glad I didn’t renew because it just kept coming until I received the June 2017 issue wrapped with a warning that this was “really-really” my last issue.  I still don’t believe them so I’m going to wait to see if the issues just keep coming. A LOT OF OVERHEAD How is Cycle World doing?  First, since I was in the biz for…
