2025 Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels’ Motorcycle Of The Year

It’s time to announce the much-anticipated and much-coveted Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels’ 2025 Motorcycle of the Year. And unlike every other media outlet, we don’t cop-out by diluting our Motorcycle Of The Year into a list of 72 categories (like The Motorcycle Of The Year For Pregnant Women Who Are Less Than 5’9” And Don’t Ride Dirt). We don’t pick runner-ups or Honorable Mentions either. No, sir. We do the hard work so you don’t have to.

So without further ado, a drum roll please, the 2025 Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels‘ Motorcycle Of The Year….

THE HODAKA ACE 90

Sometimes it is hard to pick a winner but not this year. No other motorcycle comes close. In this age of 400-page owner’s manuals, subscription-based performance “unlocks” and astronomical replacement prices, the Hodaka Ace 90 stands above all others for its simplicity, impressive performance (both on and off the road) and ease of maintenance.

This is a motorcycle that will be cherished equally by both beginner and experienced riders of any persuasion. And talk about holding its resale value! There are instances where a 50 year old Ace 90 has commanded an amazing $5,600 over its initial manufacturer’s suggested retail price. Heck, it’s like Hodaka will pay you to buy an Ace 90!

The only drawback to the Ace 90 is finding one in stock on your local dealership’s floor. That’s not surprising seeing how popular this bike is. But don’t let the scarcity deter you. It is well worth the hunt.

Power to Spare: It may only be a 90cc two-stroke single but that Mikuni carb makes it super simple to jet properly and that four-speed transmission will have you flying down the trail or highway. Does your motorcycle have a mud flap on its front fender? Didn’t think so.
Traction Control: The rear suspension gives you inches of smooth, controlled travel. The shocks are damped and sprung perfectly from the factory so the owner doesn’t have to mess with complex adjustments. The up pipe comes with a heat guard. Thanks, Hodaka.
Miles of Smiles: The only way to beat the gas mileage on an Ace 90 is to ride an electric-powered motorcycle and we have yet to see a battery pack look anywhere near as cool as the Ace 90’s fuel tank. Good luck finding an Ace 90. They sell as fast as dealerships get them in.
Long-Term Test: We logged just under 8,000 miles on our Ace 90 and cried like a teething baby when Hodaka picked up their bike. We offered to purchase it but it had already been allocated to a Hodaka dealer who had taken an 100% deposit on the bike.
