The ever-expanding Jimmy Mac Motorcycle Album Cover Museum is always on the lookout for similarities in different album covers. The Flying Snoopy and mystery blond model come to mind. This week, we added another.
We obtained a pristine “The Hard Ride” soundtrack a number of years ago. Recently we spotted “Ride On!” by The Frank Popp Ensemble that uses the same chopper rider for its cover as “The Hard Ride.”
Music wise, that actually doesn’t matter here at the museum (we care more about the album cover artwork), we have to go with Frank Popp’s 60’s funky/soul/lounge/007 sound over the biker movie mix. Frank was a graphic designer before putting out “Ride On!” and we applaud his “borrowing” of “The Hard Ride” chopper-riding couple. No photo credit appears on either album. If you know, let us know.
