Peter still cares. You can hear it on The Face of 68. It would have been so easy for him to gather a bunch of cronies and simply rehash the last 40 years of the perfect power pop music he is known for. Quick, easy and boring. Instead, The Face of 68 comes off fresh, like the first release of an artist trying to prove a point. He put effort into this album and you can hear that in every cut.
The toughest thing about Peter Holsapple’s The Face of 68 is trying to choose a single song to pass along. The songs are unmistakably Peter Holsapple compositions and that means they are consistently great. I’m not sure why I chose the lesser streamed “One For The Book” but the dang song is so clean. Put the headphones on (not earbuds) and play it soft. Let it sink into your ears, not accost them.
