It is evident that this 1985 Honda Gold Wing has been sitting for a number of years. Still, under that green tarp is a bike that looks very complete and appears to be well sealed (in comparison to a Running When Parked missing a carb or air filters or fuel lines).
It will take more than a “carb clean” and a bottle of S100 12005L Total Cycle Cleaner to get this road barge sailing down the highway. It is going to take time and dollars. There are 6,000 hours of Youtube Gold Wing how-to videos for you DIY types and there are mechanics who specialize in Gold Wings.
The only problem I see is the asking price of $2,200. Kelly Blue Book lists the value of an ’85 Gold Wing “in good-running condition” to be $2,400. You would need to get this bike for around $500 to get it road ready for around the bike’s worth.
You would not be crazy to ask yourself, “Why not look for a running, clean ’85 Gold Wing and buy it for around $2,400?” This would save a lot of time and bloody knuckles.
