Mystery KTM Running When Parked Purchased From Estate

This is an interesting offering. The seller doesn’t know what model KTM it is and I don’t either. What I do know is that for an old dirt bike, it doesn’t appear to be too abused. Heck, look at the rear tire! The bike is all there and was owned by somebody who seemed to have taken care of it.

A KTM collector may see gold here. I see a project with an asking price that doesn’t pencil out for anybody who wants a fun dirt bike to blast around on. I’m old enough to remember drum brakes and they are not a lot of fun especially in wet conditions.

Impressive knobbies: The rear tire looks like it was replaced right after the bike was last ridden. Those are some healthy knobbies.

WHAT IS A RWP’ed?
The phrase “Running When Parked” (RWP) is code for a once treasured possession that has been neglected in the corner of the garage or tool shed for far too long. Lacking the energy, time or resources to bring the little beauty back to life, the owner lists it for sale in hopes that a new owner will massage it back to health. Our collection of RWP bikes fall into two distinct categories; treasure or trash. And you are the only one who can properly judge which category the bike belongs in.

History lesson: I can’t look at a motorcycle like this without wondering about the previous owners and how much fun they had with this bike. Of course, the previous owner could have broken a leg on the first ride and never ridden it again.
