I’m a ’53 model so I was 12 years old when this bike popped off the assembly line. Twelve is a very impressionable age so when I saw this Yamaha 80 up for sale, the nostalgia kicked in hard. Luckily, not hard enough to motivate me to pick up the phone or take a quick drive to 29 Palms. So this is still up for grabs.
The bike looks great. It is not missing the air filter and there are not wires and cables dangling. You can tell it was well taken care of. Still, it is going to take a lot of work to get this bike running safely again.
The $2,500 asking price is high. If this tugs at your heartstrings like it does to mine, remember money talks. This is a survivor that deserves another shot at a fun trail ride or trip to the local drive-in.
