Ran-When-Parked 1974 Yamaha DT250 Two-Stroker

Everyone who piloted one of these has a great memory of riding it. They were low-saddle-height bikes with nice power and a very balanced feel on the road or trail. It was an adventure bike before adventure bikes were invented.

The bike looks complete although you can tell it has spent a few years near the ocean. The hardware shows signs of rust so inspecting the frame is a good idea before extending an offer.

As far as an offer goes, the $2500 asking price seems about $1000 high. Most sellers are going to recoil at an offer that is 40% off the selling price and the bike is currently registered (a big plus in my book). Still, it is a running when parked so it could need much more than a “carb clean.”

I’d recommend the owner cleans the card and gets it running. Then the $2,500 asking price is a steal. Click here to see if the bike is still available.

WHAT IS A RWP’ed?
The phrase “Running When Parked” (RWP) is code for a once treasured possession that has been neglected in the corner of the garage or tool shed for far too long. Lacking the energy, time or resources to bring the little beauty back to life, the owner lists it for sale in hopes that a new owner will massage it back to health. Our collection of RWP bikes fall into two distinct categories; treasure or trash. And you are the only one who can properly judge which category the bike belongs in.
