Grinch Attacks Somis Road’s Dead Man’s Curve

Caltrans’ delay in replacing the destroyed guardrail on Somis’ infamous Dead Man’s Curve just saved tax payers some bucks but could have cost unsuspecting Christmas Tree shoppers their lives. The guardrail was recently taken out around October 6th, 2024 (here is my story on that). The latest crash, on approximately Friday December 20th, didn’t take out the railing (because there were only remnants of the railing left) but it did take out Paty’s Farm’s fence and some of the Christmas Trees that were on sale.

It is very fortunate that the crash did not occur during working hours or the results could have been tragic. There is a good reason why Caltrans believes the Somis Road’s Dead Man’s Curve needs an Armco Crash Barrier. Let’s hope the replacement is not months away.

Holiday fear: Paty’s Farm is a cherished Somis business but their customers know to keep an eye peeled on Dead Man’s Curve. The offending driver folded some of the already damaged Armco Barrier, drove over a small embankment, plowed through a chainlink fence and ended up next to the Christmas Trees.
Tis the season: Some of the trash scattered around the crash site.
