Happy-New-Year Harley Running When Parked Looks Ready

I can think of worse ways to start off 2021. This unearthed 1964 Harley appears to have been well maintained during storage and the fact that the seller has all the registration up to date is a major plus for starting the new year without waiting in line at DMV. And that wait would be longer than what it will take to get this old Panhead running.

The bike is missing a chain (no big deal) and as long as the carb is not stuffed with varnish, a new battery and fresh lubricants should get this low rider back on the boulevard. The asking price is about $1,000 below what a motorcycle shop would be trying to get so you are already in “fair deal” territory.

The phrase “running when parked” (RWP) is code for a once treasured possession that has been neglected in the corner of the garage or tool shed for far too long. Lacking the energy, time or resources to bring the little beauty back to life, the owner lists it for sale in hopes that a new owner will massage it back to health. Our collection of RWP bikes fall into two distinct categories; treasure or trash. And you are the only one who can properly judge which category the bike belongs in.
