Get Paid $500 To Buy An E-Bike

This is not a scam and it is not the usual “discount” off an inflated suggested retail price offered by an e-bike company. This is an honest-to-God $500 check for buying an e-bike. The deal kicked off on Earth Day and is offered by the Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA). Here is how it works.

Make the best possible deal on any bike from the RCEA’s approved e-bike models (listed here) and the RCEA will send you a cool $500 on top of any deal you worked out at your local bike shop (or by ordering online.) There are terms and conditions starting with the $500 only going to existing RCEA Community Choice Energy residential electricity customers (who are good about paying their bills). The RCEA only offers one check per account and you’ve got to act fast. The bank account for the $500 payout had $41,500 in it on Earth Day so once 83 bikes are purchased or October 2020 rolls around, whichever comes first, the deal is off. You can read all the terms and conditions here.

The Scorpion comes with a $300-off special from Juiced. Add in the $500 and you get $800 off the $2,100 suggested retail. There is a problem. This model doesn’t ship until July. If the RCEA bank balance is zero by then, you don’t get the $500.
I would suggested buying your e-bike from the available inventory at a bike shop instead of praying your bike is shipped in time to get your $500. The RCEA’s approved bikes are intended for commuting, running errands and reducing automobile usage. Electric-motorized mountain bikes are not on the “approved” list.
