FAST GUY CUTS COURSE AND WE HAVE PROOF

Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels has obtained screen capture images from a video shot at the 1971 Elsinore Grand Prix that shows celebrated off-road champion, Malcolm Smith, clearly cutting the course. He circumvents a mud bog to gain positions and maintain a higher average speed for the lap. The film’s narrator identifies Mr. Smith and comments that the racer is “swerving off the course through a hole in the barbwire fence.” The footage shows Malcolm negotiating a grass field next to a mud bog at a high rate of speed, slowing only to go, “back through the fence again without missing a beat, and passing six guys in the process.” One of the surprised riders passed during the illegal move almost T-bones Mr. Smith at his reentry spot. You can get the full account by reading the book “Malcolm.”
