Three-Wheeled Running When Parked Perfect For Collectors Only

The Honda atc 70 was a cute little all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that was marketed in the early 80’s as a fun vehicle for the entire family. Unfortunately, the ATV was a tricky vehicle to operate and anything but “family friendly.” It was easy for an inexperienced rider to experienced a rollover going uphill, downhill or on flat terrain. The saddle encouraged taking a passenger and the ATV used a fixed axle instead of a differential. And the vehicles were ankle biters. If the ATV did start a rollover, the natural…

’65 Honda Scrambler Comes Back To Life

This is a Running When Parked (RWP) that I’ve been watching for a long time. It shows up on Craigslist every few months and has been doing so for years. The asking price ($5,000) might be putting off some riders, but wait, the latest ad is updated. Although it says the bike is a Running When Parked, it contradicts that statement by saying the owner has got the bike running. The $5000 asking price isn’t too far off if you have an emotional attachment to Honda Scramblers and are not…

1962 Harley Skat A Beautiful Running When Parked

Most of the featured RWP’ed fall into the derelict category and would be best served with a trip to a car crusher. But not this little gem. This is one RWP’ed that doesn’t appear to need much more than a fluid check and a boot on the kickstarter to bring it back to glorious life. This looks way more like a RTR (Ready To Ride) than a RWP. If it is not sold, you can check it out by clicking here. The phrase “running when parked” (RWP) is code for…

Honda CB750 Cool Rat Bike Project

This ’76 CB750 is rough but I see a very fun rat bike sitting here. Leave the tank and fenders rusting away. The floorboards are cool. The bars are perfect. Needs a headlight. And who knows if the motor turns? It was running when parked. Get this bike running and you will strike fear into anyone who sees you coming. I don’t think the seller will get that asking price. I’d offer half that and walk if the offer was not taken. The phrase “running when parked” (RWP) is code…

’68 Harley FLH Cool RWP’ed For Someone With Lots of Spare Time

Late ’60’s Harleys are boss! This one is no exception. The solo saddle, speedo on the tank, floorboard footpeds, bull-horn handlebar, additional driving lights, triple-clamp aluminum casing and fish-tail pipes all add up to one sweet boulevard cruiser. Still, this guy will require hours and hours of attention unless you plan to take the rat-bike path. Even then, it is a “running when parked” so who knows what evil lurks inside the fuel tank, engine cases and battery cover? All this and the owner is asking $13,000 for a bike…

The Real Ducati Scrambler is One Mean Runner When Parked

The modern-day Ducati Scrambler just doesn’t do it for me. Motorcycle magazines gush over it but to my eye, it is a poorly constructed poser bike that is too porky to ride on anything but pavement or dirt roads you’d tackle in a 1984 Ford Country Squire. To find a Ducati Scrambler that gets my attention, you need to turn back the clock to 1971 and throw a leg over the Ducati 450 RT. Now that’s a scrambler! This ad was selling two of them (both “running when parked”). The…

Honda CBX Switch-A-Roo Does Not Fool Us

The classified ad reads like the often-repeated urban legend of someone selling a family heirloom worth thousands for chump change. A Honda CBX from an estate sale for $1400? That bike is worth 15 times that. Steal that bike before the seller realizes what a horrible mistake they’ve made. But wait. Scrolling down the ad reveals the photo used for the main image is an example of what a pristine, fully-restored CBX looks like. But it is not the bike the seller is trying to pawn off. The actual bike…

Family Parts With Beezer That Deserves Another Chance

This is tough because it has been sitting a long, long time. This 650 needs more attention than most mere-mortal mechanics could faithfully expend. Still, I hesitate. There is an obvious alternative, but the thought of parting out this old BSA brings a tear to my eye. It seems a shame for it to disappear into parts bins. I can only hope somebody with the right talent and energy will bring this old family member back to the street.

Fall Turns To Winter For This RWP’ed

Where do I start with this amazing ad? First, the seller only posted two photos so we can only guess he didn’t include the Yamaha Midnight Special because why? It is a little rougher than the Honda and flame-tanked Suzuki? If that is the case, I’d really love to see the Yamaha. Based on the fallen leaves framing the two pictured bikes, I’ve got to figure snow has fallen on these little gems by now. A white dusting might actually improve the bikes’ appearances. The $1000 asking price for all…

Rupp Minibike “Running When Parked”

I am so tempted by this one. The mini looks complete. All the parts are there and the frame looks ripe for a makeover. Unfortunately, I don’t have the skills of Chip and Joanna (of “Fixer Upper” TV show fame) and while I can envision a cherry Rupp Roadster in my head, I know I couldn’t transform this bike into the mini of my dreams. If the motor runs and wheel bearings aren’t seized, I’d offer $250 and just ride it like it is. The phrase “running when parked” (RWP)…
