Riding Partner Breaks Ankle In Golfing Accident, Not On His Motorcycle

I’ve told my riding partner, Lance Sallis of Central Texas Restorations, not to participate in high-risk sports like golfing, but the guy just wouldn’t listen. Only a few weeks since finishing our epic Wyoming Backcountry Discovery Route adventure, Lance somehow broke an ankle stepping (or falling) out of a golf cart. The injury will require surgery next week. His doctor feels Lance will be in for a full recovery in six to eight weeks following going under the knife. I’m sure all the Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels readers will…

Opening Trails To Class-1 E-Bikes Opens Trails To All E-Bikes – UPDATED

E-bike designations (Class 1, 2 and 3) were written by a trade organization to do three things: (1) open previously non-motorized trails to motorized vehicles, (2) evade enforcement, and (3) sell more e-bikes. This class definition is being adopted by state and local legislators who don’t understand that opening a non-motorized trail to any class of e-bike, virtually opens the trail to all e-bikes. Here’s why. THE CLASS DISTINCTION Class-1 and Class-2 electric bicycles have less than 750 watts and cease to provide power when the bike exceeds 20 miles…

Never Spill A Drop With This Bicycle Drink Holder

Not totally stoked the inventor dubbed his product a “beer stabilizer” (I’ve lost friends to drunk drivers), so substitute Drink Stabilizer and you’ve got an ingenious invention. Click here to watch it in action. Don’t drink and ride: The inventor says this accessory is made for use at Burning Man and that explains a lot. Still, I wouldn’t suggest consuming alcohol while riding a bike even in the middle of the desert. Wait until you are done riding. This invention would solve the problem I’ve had riding my motorcycle with…

Reevo Hubless Bike Reveals Over-blown Expectations Of Investors

The Reevo Hubless E-bike concept raised over six and a half million bucks from 2,769 backers on the crowd funding site Indiegogo. Close to three years later, the majority of those backers are still waiting for their Reevo and browsing the recent comment section reveals a growing frustration from those backers. What were they expecting? INVESTING IN A CONCEPT BIKE It is clear from the comments that many considered themselves customers, not investors. These folks were naive (showing a lack of experience, wisdom or judgment) when they plunked down the…

An Inaugural Ride Of Wyoming’s Eight-Day Backcountry Discovery Route And Tips For Your Ride

I seldom read stories about a rider’s experience on a Backcountry Discovery Route. There are a couple of reasons why. First, I’m jealous. I want to be riding the route, not reading about it. Second, every BDR experience is unique. Just because Lance (that’s Lance Sallis of Central Texas Restorations) and I saw a massive herd of elk (well over 60 of them) and one moose (that wasn’t mounted over a fireplace), cleared all the water crossings, cheated multiple thunder storms (sometimes by mere hours) and attended a Monster Truck…

One Year Later, Two RWP’ed Kawasakis Still Looking For A Home

When the new listing popped up on Craigslist, even my gap-filled memory remembered this Running-When-Parked duo. The seller was asking $2700 for two Kawasakis of a 1971 and 1967 vintage. I commented (back in 2021) that the bikes were cool, but the asking price was too steep. I was right. The new ad has knocked $700 off the asking price and the bikes have remained “Running When Parked” for another year. So, the seller is getting closer to a reasonable asking price. Is it close enough? That my friend, is…
