1971 Husqvarna Owned By Steve McQueen Sells For $72,000

A 1971 Husqvarna once owned by Steve McQueen sold today for $72,000 on the auction site, Bring A Trailer. Congrats to both the seller and the winning bidder. Steve is probably looking down from Heaven with a smile on his face with one request to the seller. “Take some of that $72,000 and use it for a donation to the Boys Republic in Chino Hills.”

Crushing Motocross Bikes A Blatant Publicity Stunt That Benefits Nobody

The New York Post is reporting that Eric Adams has joined the list of former New York City mayors who think that destroying motorcycles ridden illegally is the best way to combat the operation of off-road vehicles on New York City streets. These “crusher” events are a publicity stunt that the media eats up. Just watch the wags leap to their collective feet to get the “money” shot of a bull dozer flattening motorcycles, scooters and ATVs. Sad, because how can anyone believe the destruction of these vehicles will somehow…

Suzuki RM400 RWP’ed Get Sold Before Posting

Normally I give my two cents as to the asking price and viability of the Running When Parked bike that is being offered. No need to do it on this one. It is gone. Sold. Found a new home and it is probably running right now. I would have said the bike looks clean and even I could get it running again in an afternoon barring some major defect hiding inside the engine. This was a sweet bike ready to rage again. Congrats to the new owner. “Running When Parked”…

Brompton Folding E-Bikes Recalled Due To Fall Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission along with Brompton Bicycles has issued a recall on the company’s foldable e-bike because the front fender flap can get sucked into the wheel, causing the rider to lose control. This recall involves Brompton foldable e-bikes with 16-inch wheels, sold in black, white, bolt lacquer, Turkish green, and white/gold colors. “Brompton” is printed on the center tube of the bike’s frame.  Recalled models include the Brompton Electric M2L, H2L, M6L, and H6L which are printed on the bicycles name plate, which is affixed to the…

Businesses And Cyclists Battle Over Bike Lanes

WCVB 5 ABC is reporting that a group made up of Cambridge, Massachusetts, business owners known as “Cambridge Streets For All” is suing the city to stop them from removing parking spaces in favor of bike lanes. The business owners claim the reduction of public parking is impacting their businesses already weakened by the COVID pandemic. Watching the news report footage, it is easy to understand why cyclists want separated bike lanes on these busy thoroughfares. Even where separated bike lanes are shown, the cyclists are forced to navigate intersections…

Triumph Tiger TR7 Running When Parked Tempting But Overpriced

When I recently toured a vintage motorcycle collection, the owner lamented how vintage Triumphs have taken a financial hit in the past five years. Collectable Triumphs that once flirted between $15,000 and $20,000 are now only able to bring in between $7,000 to $10,000 (unless Steve McQueen owned it). The seller of this 1973 Triumph Tiger is going to find out that $4,995 for a Running-When-Parked Triumph will be a tough sell. The bike has aftermarket pipes (that I bet sound pretty awesome when it is running), but people love…

Trip To The Whistling Duck Pub Ends In E-bike Inferno

This poor guy claims to have purchased two new e-bikes, loaded them in his truck and then watched in disbelief as they exploded and burned. I use the word “claims” because the only news report I found on the incident was a report on the video, not a report on the actual fire or quotes from the fire department. There is no doubt that two e-bike burnt up. How they caught fire is not as clear. Still, I post this because I love the name of the pub the guy…
