Black Friday Sale Must Really Piss Off Recent Buyers Of Serial 1 E-Bikes

You’ll notice a disproportionate number of Serial 1 stories on Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels, so sue me, but they are an interesting company. The last message I received (as a consumer, not a journalist) is news of the company’s Black Friday sale. A free helmet with your purchase? Maybe a set of panniers? Nope. You get $1000 off! You read that right, $1000 off on the model of your choice. That’s just crazy. If you purchased a Mosh/Cty model 5 days ago, you paid $3799. Today the same bike…

Mini Chopper 1979 Suzuki OR50 A Rare Find

I never understood why the Suzuki OR50 got released in America. It seemed like a bike made for the Japanese domestic market where smaller is smarter drives sales as opposed to the bigger-is-better mentality of America’s motorcycling public (even back in 1979). If I’m not mistaken, the bike sold out quickly even if they were imported in modest numbers. Now, I wish I had one because this bike is such a head turner today. This RWP’ed OR50 looks okay for anybody jonesing for one. The guy is firm on the…

Vans P.K. Ripper High Tops Bring Back Great Memories (And Look Boss) – UPDATED

Anyone who knows me knows I’m firmly in the Converse camp when it comes to high-top sneakers. But when I saw these beautiful Vans SE Racing P.K. Ripper shoes, I had to break ranks and sneak them in with my Converse collection. I met Scot Breithaupt, founder of SE Racing, while working for Bell Helmets in the early 80’s. I was in awe of Scot who obviously understood racing, marketing, sponsorship and communications way better than I ever would. He was a force of nature and it is not a…

Reevo Hubless E-Bike Earns UL 2849 Certification

Beno, the company developing the Reevo hubless e-bike, announced in their November 4th update on Indiegogo that their e-bike will meet the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 2849 standard for e-bikes. This is a major benefit and value added for people who have already backed the bike (the Reevo is offered on crowdfunding site, Indiegogo) or plan to buy one once production begins. I find it impressive that a start-up e-bike company sees the value of third-party testing. This investment sends their backers a clear message that the company is serious about…

Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award Presented To Mark Blackwell

There is something very special about the Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award. Unlike most inductions that take place at a banquet, museum or hall of fame building, the Edison Dye Lifetime Achievement Award is presented at a motocross race. The Dubya USA World Vet Motocross Championships at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California, to be exact. The audience is made up of racers in their gear, taking a break from the day’s events to pay tribute to an individual who has made a lasting impact on the sport of…

Super Sweet BMW R65LS Runner When Parked Won’t Last

If this Running When Parked wasn’t on the other side of the country, I’d be headed to pick it up right now and drop it off at Central Texas Restorations. I’ve always liked the boxy looks, flat handlebar, black pipes and mag wheels of this model. It is a comfortable cafe racer made for two! I want it. If you live closer than I do, be my guest. The price is fair for what appears to be a well-preserved, unmolested early 80s BMW. To find out if it is still…

Leigh Donovan’s Mountain Biker Skills Video Series Will Make You A Better Rider

Did you get into mountain bike riding during the pandemic? Need to brush up on some mountain biking basics? Want to learn cool stuff you can use on every ride? Well friends, you are in luck! Leigh Donovan, a Troy Lee Designs athlete, Hall of Fame member and mountain biking’s most high-energy, good-vibe ambassador, has put together a series of videos sharing hard-learned riding tips that every rider can use. I dig them because Leigh kept them short and easy to follow. Check them out at her homepage at Troy…

Serial 1 Custom E-Bike Raises $6300 For Just Keep Living Foundation

The second Serial 1 custom e-bike auction is over and all the money raised from the winning bid of $6300 goes to the Just Keep Living Foundation. The second auction was a public relations win over the company’s first auction because this winning bid is more in the ballpark of the bike’s value and the money raised goes to a good cause. The first auction, for a Stingray-ish styled Serial 1 e-bike, raked in the astronomical price of $14,200 (and Serial 1 pocketed that windfall). The second custom e-bike auction…

Serial 1 Custom E-bike Auction Benefits Just Keep Living Foundation

I thought the first Serial 1 custom e-bike auction was lame because the winning bid made the company a windfall profit while the winning bidder got an over-priced custom e-bike. The next Serial 1 auction is a better promotion for the company because the proceeds are going to a good cause, the Just Keep Living Foundation. Just like the first bike auctioned off, the company explains that this bike is “intended to be a collectible for display purposes only and not intended for use.” I guess they are covering their…

Park & Diamond Invents A Helmet Standard And Hopes Backers Fall For It (UPDATED)

May 28, 2021: Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels has been following the Park & Diamond saga for years. Yes, years. Their customers have called the company “ridiculous scammers,” “criminal,” “an embarrassment” and “incompetent.” I have maintained that the Park & Diamond people probably started out with too much enthusiasm and not enough expertise in helmet design and manufacturing. After their inexcusable update of May 22, 2021, I am lead to believe they are misleading their customers or worse. The update claims that the Park & Diamond helmet is in the process…
