On A Bicycle Built For Two

I should have purchased a Mark Ryden painting (and Apple stock) twenty years ago when I could still afford one. It is not that I’m destitute now. Mark’s artwork is simply priced out of my league. The video below is from Mark’s Gay 90’s West collection and is simply titled “Memory Lane.” Fair warning; the song “On A Bicycle Built For Two” will be stuck in your head the rest of the day. Mark talked a few of his friends into contributing their take on the classic song. My favorites…

1935 Triumph Running When Parked Is A Beauty

We get a lot of crappy bikes showing up on Running When Parked, but this is not one of them. This bike looks better now than it did on the showroom floor in 1935. And who cares if it is running? This is not the kind of bike you buy to ride around town. It will most likely end up in a personal collection or museum. The price? The seller wants you to make him an offer. You can see the ad (if the bike is still available) by clicking…

Motorcycle Thief Customizes My Suzuki DR-Z400 – UPDATED

UPDATE May 28, 2021: A big shout out to Jody Weisel and Motocross Action Magazine for getting the word out on my stolen bike. I got so many emails, calls and messages from his readers who offered to assist in any way possible. I try to learn from times when things don’t go as planned. I learned from this that there are lots of good people out there and motorcycle people are the best.  My original story: Guess this had to happen. I’ve owned motorcycles (lots of them) for the…

Specialized Bikes Warns Of Possible E-Bike Fire Hazard

If you own a 1st generation Specialized Levo (either the FRS or HT model) or Kenevo FSR, you’ll want to move it out of your garage, home or storage shed and away from any flammable material (including a forest). Then,  hit this link that explains what needs to be done to your bike to prevent what Specialized calls a “thermal runaway event” (I call it a fire). I have tracked numerous e-bike fires and recalls. Up until now, these recalls and fires were traced to home-built, DIY project e-bikes, e-bike conversion…

The Inherent Problem With Press Junkets

I’ve always believed that “press introductions” or “press junkets” are a horrible idea for both the companies promoting a product and the consumers planning to buy it. Watching the Adventure Rider Baldy Review of the Harley-Davidson 2021 Pan America 1250 reenforced that belief. Harley-Davidson treated a group of carefully-selected moto journalists to a pampered press junket in the California Mojave. The goal was to get them aquatinted with H-D’s Pan America. No, Jimmy Mac On Two Wheels did not make the cut. The Baldy Review (who did make the cut) does…

The Harley-Davidson Pan America Looks Amazing And Why You Shouldn’t Get One…Yet

We were impressed and encouraged by spy photos of the Harley-Davidson’s Pan America back in 2019. The prototype represented a major departure for a company known only for its cruiser and touring bikes. Two years later, the Pan America is poised to hit dealer showrooms and backcountry dirt roads. It looks pretty darn great. Harley-Davidson did a commendable job in the adventure bike arena on their first try. Kudos to the Milwaukee wrecking crew. Does that mean you adventure-type riders should rush down to the local Harley-Davidson dealership and scoop…
