Pedego Recalls 11,600 E-Bikes Due To Unexpected Acceleration

The Pedego E-bike Company is asking riders of 11,600 Pedego e-bikes purchased between January 2018 to August 2020 to stop riding their bikes. The CPSC recall is blamed on improperly manufactured electrical cables that can cause the bikes to accelerate unexpectedly, posing the rider a fall or collision hazard. The models with the potential defect are: • Interceptor (including Platinum Edition). • City Commuter (including Mid Drive Edition and Black Edition). • Boomerang Plus. • Ridge Rider. • Trail Tracker (including Gorilla Edition). • Stretch (including Dual Drive Edition). Pedego…

Bimotal’s 28-Mile-Per-Hour Kit Thwarts E-Bike Regulations

The Bimotal company is cleaver on so many levels that it is tough to know where to start. THE PRODUCT Bimotal is in the process of introducing the Elevate, a powerful electric motor that attaches to the disc brake mount of select mountain bikes. It is an ingenious invention for motorizing a mountain bike if it works as claimed (the product is not yet available although they will take your deposit). Once the mounting hardware and gearing is installed (included in the $1950 price), your bike is ready to blast…

Concept Bicycle Helmet That Tucks Into A Water Bottle – UPDATED 9-18-2020

UPDATE 9/18/2020: The Park & Diamond company posted another “update” and “sneak preview” on August 28th. The update says the company has “secured agreements with a new contract manufacturer [and] several new suppliers.” They go on to say that the company is “firming up new shipping logistics” that should ship the first production by the end of December 2020. “Secured agreements” and “firming up” is, in my opinion, public relations mumbo jumbo. Backers want to hear that manufacturing has begun, not that Park & Diamond has “agreements” to manufacture and…

Running When Parked GMC Team Van Ready For Your Team

Running When Parked is dedicated to RWP’ed motorcycles, minibikes and ATVs. That was until I found this super-cool 1959 GMC Van listed on the Facebook Marketplace. Do you see the potential I see? The first thing I’d do is contact Wally Hackensmith and commission him to come up with a paint scheme and graphics for this beautiful bike hauler. I don’t care if I have to tow the thing to the races if it has a Hackensmith wrap. Next I’d get the engine and drivetrain dialed in and finally massage…

Cycle World Pulls The Plug (Updated 9-17-20)

UPDATE 9/17/20: Revzilla is reporting that Cycle World has pulled the plug on their quarterly print magazine edition. Octane, a powersports finance company, announced that it has acquired the digital assets of the former Bonnier powersports print magazines: Cycle World, Motorcyclist, Dirt Rider, Motorcycle Cruiser, UTV Driver and ATV Rider. I find it strange that as of this morning, there is no mention on Cycle World’s website about the acquisition and plans to stop the last print publication of the magazines formerly owned by Bonnier Motorcycle Group. While times are…

Davis Phinney Teams With Trek Domane+ LT E-Bike To Keep The Legend Rolling

The story from Trek Bicycles, “How Davis Phinney finds freedom in the saddle of his Domane+ LT,” caught my attention and brought back memories of an interview I did with Davis in 1994 for Road Bike Action Magazine. Davis had just retired from racing when he, his wife, Connie Carpenter, and their son and future professional cyclist, Taylor, welcomed me into their home for hours of conversation. It would have been a killer Podcast if iPods had been invented in 1994! I just dug out the issue and the interview…

No Sea Otter Classic For 2020

It comes as no surprise that the Sea Otter Classic promoter is pulling the plug on their rescheduled 2020 event. The event that is traditionally held in the Spring of each year was shifted to October for 2020 due to concerns over COVID-19. As it became clear that the pandemic is still a concern for any event that draws large numbers of participants (except for the Sturgis Motorcycle rally and social justice protests), the Sea Otter promoters have pulled the plug on the 2020 event and are pinning their hopes…

InMotion V11 Electric Unicycle A Dream Come True For Product liability Attorneys

There are attorneys who specialize in product liability negligence. This form of Product liability occurs when a supplier sells a product with inaccurate or inadequate labeling. While product liability negligence claims are usually complex and challenging to prove from a legal standpoint, I feel that InMotion is going out of their way to make it easier for these attorneys with the introduction of the V11 Electric Unicycle. CONSUMER DIRECT InMotion ships the V11 directly to your home. BEFORE you take delivery (or order one), watch their how-to video. It might…

This 1968 BSA Chopper Has Plenty Of Stories To Tell

Imagine the stories that former owners of this running-when-parked BSA could tell about the places they visited, the freedom they felt twisting its throttle, the thrill of ditching the cops and the look of bliss on the faces of tripping passengers while leaning on the padded sissy bar (can I use that term in 2020?). This relic deserves to be on display in The Chopper Graveyard or any motorcycle museum. Or better yet, somebody should grab this beauty, get it running and add to the stories that have already passed…
