1969 Yamaha YL2-C “Running When Parked” A Fun Project

Ever notice how any car or motorcycle manufactured in 1969 is cooler than any other year? I’m sure you can find exceptions, but for the most part, 1969 rules. This Yamaha YL2-C is a prime example. While $1200 might be a stretch, it sure looks like a fun project that shouldn’t take too much effort to get running. The seller gets bonus points for posting really great photos (there were a ton more than I posted here) and making fun of the “Running When Parked” line.

The phrase “running when parked” (RWP) is code for a once treasured possession that has been neglected in the corner of the garage or tool shed for far too long. Lacking the energy, time or resources to bring the little beauty back to life, the owner lists it for sale in hopes that a new owner will massage it back to health. Our collection of RWP bikes fall into two distinct categories; treasure or trash. And you are the only one who can properly judge which category the bike belongs in.
